These ‘Inspirations’ are my unique, first-made pieces of a certain style. They represent themes I find interesting, such as time, things unseen, and how one's life unfolds. Each will inspire a future series that delves into these topics.

Is anyone a self-made person? This is a question I’ve pondered for many years, and this piece is made to evoke the question.

I’m drawn to the beauty of our hardwoods in and around the Adirondacks. These rugged trees give
us such strikingly beautiful lumber which is unique to each tree and the conditions it lived through. Along with their visual beauty, I strive to expose the tactile beauty of these woods. They can be so soft and smooth that they invite you to touch them. In creating this piece, my goal was to use simple, soft lines that allow the viewer to experience the beauty of these trees. The woods become the center of attention.
The black walnut in Simply comes from a tree that grew on the grounds of a majestic home that was once the Clinton Liberal Institute. This was a private school for girls and was attended by Clara Barton, who was a Civil War nurse and founder of the American Red Cross. This giant walnut had lived past its natural lifespan and was taken down.

This wood wall art is crafted from cherry, maple, and purpleheart woods.
This piece is inspired by the amazing light show fireflies put on in early summer. My yard backs up to a forest, creating an amphitheater where thousands of luminous yellow-green dots flash in the darkness. It’s a remarkable show that never gets old. Seeing Fireflies hanging on my wall always makes me smile!

A zipper is always hiding something, isn’t it? I find the beauty of this piece is in its simplicity. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite creations, making me smile every time I see it!

Chromas is a different take on my Deeply Rooted series. The base of this artwork is solid maple, while the sides are solid walnut, with many hand-made round plugs scattered throughout.
